ATLANTA, March. 13, 2015 – Lost-n-Found Youth announced that it is extending hours of operation for its Youth Drop-In Center to serve the community seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The new hours of the drop-in center will extend access to services for youth of the Atlanta community and offer a more consistent schedule which will help more clients.

“We recognize that there is a large need in the community to be accessible for our clients 7 days a week. Many at-risk and homeless youth are unable to find shelter in Atlanta, and many will be discriminated against in shelters or while trying to find placement,” said Rick Westbrook – Executive Director of Lost-n-Found Youth. “Numerous youth are unable to access resources because of their status. Our drop-in center serves as a liaison to provide resources, social support, and safety from the streets when youth need it most.”

Part of Lost-n-Found Youth’s mission is to serve LGBTQ youth when they are in crisis. The daily operation of the youth center meets the needs of the homeless LGBTQ youth in our community by providing a safe, inclusive space with help for basic needs and delivers sound resources for our clients. Lost-n-Found is a critical link for support with a team of volunteers and paid staff who are committed to ensuring immediate access to vital resources for LGBTQ youth. The center helps to meet clients’ most urgent needs so youth can continue to be empowered to work towards a more stable life.

The drop-in center is a vital asset for our youth and is a place for them to seek sanctuary – to know they are with people who care about them as soon as they walk through the doors. Lost-n-Found works towards positive growth for all its clients through skill building and learning, no matter if they are on the street, at-risk, or in various programs. Our team helps build a support system and a strong foundation for youth to recognize they are a valuable part of their community and society as a whole.
