Atlanta, Georgia—May 1, 2017— A Weekend Beyond the Ordinary (AWBTO) is a four-day camping festival celebrating inclusion, self-expression, and joy that seeks to raise $10,000 for Lost-n-Found Youth (LNFY), an organization that serves homeless LGBTQI youth in Atlanta. The event will be held June 15-19, 2017, at The River’s Edge, a campground near Bowman, Georgia, and will feature DJs playing a variety of musical genres, dancing by the pool, a tie dye clinic, an epic Holi powder vs. water balloons battle, and black light body painting, among other festivities. Anyone 21+ of any sexual orientation is welcome.

AWBTO began in 2012 as a party among LGBTQI friends and last year brought in nearly 300 people. This year, the organizers have decided to turn the fun weekend into a fundraiser to help fund the Lost-n-Found Youth’s efforts to build a new shelter to accommodate homeless youth.

Brandon Tidwell, an organizer of the event, explained the decision to partner with LNFY and raise money for the organization: “When we began this event several years ago, it was all about getting together with friends and having a good time. It’s a natural progression to build on the experience by making it a good time for a good cause—to provide crisis support, street outreach, transitional housing, and life skills training.”

Miguel Miranda, who attended the event last year, is excited for the festivities this year— especially in light of the new partnership with LNFY. “Last year’s A Weekend Beyond the Ordinary at the River’s Edge was one of my favorite weekends of the year. What an incredible sense of community and brotherhood. Easily one of the most popular weekends at River’s Edge, I met folks from all over the southeast.”

Accommodations at the campground start at $16 per night for a campsite and must be booked directly with The River’s Edge at or by calling (706) 213-8081. The River’s Edge is a private campground. An annual membership fee applies. For more information about AWBTO and supporting our fundraising efforts, check out the event details at

AWBTO will be utilizing the Generosity crowdfunding website to raise money for the event and LNFY. Donation thank you packages will include activity supplies such as Holi powder and Black light body paint for the interactive weekend activities. AWBTO has also partnered with ABETTERBUZZ Brand Goods to produce a limited-edition event shirt that will be available for pre-order. All AWBTO activities are free to the guests of the campground.
