(Atlanta, Georgia) – At the open house reception for Lost-n-Found Youth’s new Youth Drop-In Center last Saturday, Executive Director Rick Westbrook announced a partnership between LNFY and CHRIS 180. The two organizations will collaborate in their street outreach activities to provide comprehensive services and support for homeless youth in Atlanta.

“This partnership extends the reach of both organizations,” said Westbrook. “By working together, we can ensure that more homeless youth get the help and support they need to achieve self-sufficiency.”

“CHRIS 180 is thrilled to be partnering with Lost-n-Found to ensure that homeless LGBTQ youth are safe, loved, and have the opportunity to succeed,” said Kathy Colbenson, CHRIS 180 President and CEO. “Lost-n-Found’s newly opened drop-in center will offer a safe, supportive environment where youth will be able to take advantage of Lost-n-Found’s support services and CHRIS 180’s assessment and counseling services. As we move forward together, CHRIS 180 and Lost-n-Found are also working on creative ways to not only reach more youth who are on the street, but to help them change the direction of their lives by securing employment and stable housing.”

Statistically, newly homeless youth have less than 48 hours to be connected with services before they turn to harmful survival activities that can lead to drugs, crime, abuse, and exploitation. Expanded outreach allows for more one-on-one engagement, gateway services, and provides an access point for homeless youth to overcome barriers to achieving self-sufficiency. Outreach teams distribute hygiene kits, food packs, information to access resources, and transport youth to services.  LNFY also operates a 24/7 crisis hotline where youth can receive immediate assistance via talk or text.
